Dear Student

You are at a very crucial time of your life. The decisions you make now will stay with you forever.

You have been given a golden opportunity to learn and grow through the martial arts and that is very rare in today’s society.

It is not for me to tell you what to do, but as your instructor and mentor to lay out the paths that you can take, as I have done with so many of my students and the pitfalls you may face.

The easy road is always so appealing as it asks nothing of you and in return will give you nothing.

The path that looks and is harder will give you long hours of work, bruising, heartache and great struggles but its rewards are immeasurable.

Which one you decide to take will be a measure of your character, your friends will tell you that the easy road is best, I guarantee you they will not be successful and will regret their decisions.

If you want to be successful you have to strive for success in everything you do, whatever job you do, you must give more than is expected and then the expectations of you will rise and so will you.

Remember Black Belt (Shodan) means first step not last step.
