Fit for Mind and Body with Xen-Do’s Winter Health Plan part two.
Following the success of our series on healthy eating to boost your immune system this winter, Louise O’Driscoll, Xen-Do’s affiliated Holistic Health Coach shows how our ‘Hybrid’ training system can boost your mental fitness and keep you feeling alert and motivated through the darker months.
Boost your energy and creativity
Most of us head to the dojo for a workout with the physical benefits in mind and these are usually pretty evident if you train consistently. What is often overlooked, however, are the benefits for our mind. Exercise can boost brain function, improve self confidence and is one of the most under-utilised anti-depressants. Here, Louise O’Driscoll, Xen-Do’s affiliated Holistic Health Coach, looks at the different ways we benefit from training, other than the physical ones.
Struggling to get a job done? Take a break and exercise, even if it is just a short walk or jog. Studies show that people who exercise regularly are more productive and energetic than their sedentary colleagues and a training session can boost creativity for up to two hours afterwards.
Regardless of weight, shape, size or sex, exercise can improve self esteem and body image. This is particularly true of a sport such as kickboxing that due to its very nature, boosts self confidence, especially for women and children who may lack confidence in their physical strength and capability.
