Learn to Spar

At Xen-Do, our goal is to make martial arts accessible to as many people as possible, which is why we offer classes for all levels of students, from beginners to advanced athletes. However, we ask that students have at least an orange belt before joining sparring, so they have a bit of experience and know what to expect.

However, we want to make sure that our students are safe and that nobody leaves the dojo with any injuries! That’s why our sparring class is light continuous and form fighting, and we don’t do full contact.

What do sparring classes cover?

For those active students who are looking to put what they have learned in our classes to action, we offer a sparring class. This class is designed to provide our students with the opportunity to practice their skills against a live opponent.

In these classes, the focus is on control, not on hurting your opponent. We believe that sparring is an essential part of martial arts training, as it allows our students to put their skills into practice in a controlled environment.

We offer three sparring classes a week, twice during the week and once on the weekend. The days for these classes depend on your location, so please check our schedule to see when these classes are available. The classes last between 45 minutes to an hour, giving our students ample time to practice and improve their skills.

To participate in our sparring class, you will need full equipment. This includes a t-shirt, trousers, belt, boots, gloves, gum shield, shin pads, and a groin or breast guard. We take safety very seriously, and we want to make sure that our students have the right gear to protect themselves and their training partners.

Enhance All Your Martial Arts Skills and Techniques

At our dojo, we strive to create a community of martial artists who support and encourage each other. We believe that martial arts training is not just about physical fitness and self-defence, but also about developing mental strength and discipline.

Participating in sparring classes in addition to regular classes will help you to reach your goals, whether that’s to get in shape, learn self-defence, or become a competitive fighter. We welcome all students, regardless of their skill level, and we are committed to helping each and every one of our students reach their full potential.
