Sensei Nicolas Antoine
Sensei Nicolas grew up in Nimes, a Roman city in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of southern France, located between the sea and the Cevennes hills. He then moved to London at 22 years of age.
Sensei Nicolas is a longstanding member of the Xen-Do team having been with us since 2007. His interest in Martial Arts started long before that, as he grew up watching Bruce Lee, Jean Claude Van Damme and Jackie Chan films. He began his Martial Arts journey with Shotokan Karate at the age of 9 and practiced obsessively for 3 years. The sport improved his self-discipline and it is this that kept him so passionate about Martial Arts.
Sensei Nicolas is tremendously sporty and adventurous. During his teenage years his desire for the exciting and adventurous led him to extreme sports such as BMX, snowboarding and MX (dirt biking). Sensei Nicolas has attained a semi-professional level at BMX, specialising in ‘Half-Pipe’ and ‘Street’.
In 2006 he came to London and quickly found his way to Xen-Do. He was instantly hooked, and even claimed it to be "by far the best work out I have ever experienced." He worked his way quickly though the grading system achieving his 1st Dan in 2009. Sensei Nicolas is now a 5th Dan and one of our most senior instructors. He also can proudly say he brought home the gold in the 2018 Spanish Open Full Contact Under 90kgs. If you’re interested in viewing this, you can find his tournament on our Xen-Do youtube channel.
Needless to say, one of Sensei Nicolas’ many talents is that he is bilingual, speaking French and English.
