Sensei Nathan Richardson

Black Belt

My earliest memory of Martial Arts was watching 'The Karate Kid' at 4 years old. I loved it so much that the first time I watched it on video I rewound the tape the beginning and watched it again, two more times.

From that moment, I was hooked. I would practice kicks and punches that I learned from watching Jackie Chan films. I took my first real Karate class at 5 years old and it instantly felt natural to me.

By the age of 8 I had begun competing at a teenage level in Karate, winning 5 regional Junior titles by the age of 15. At 18, I went to Japan for the summer to study traditional Shoseikan Karate under Kancho, Katsutoshi Ishihara (9th Dan), earning a 2nd Dan Black Belt.

Following my trip to Japan, I decided to take the opportunity to pursue my other passion, weight training/bodybuilding. Between 2015 and 2016 I competed in 4 bodybuilding shows, where I earned 4 trophies and a Junior Bodybuilding title with the BNBF (British Natural Bodybuilding Federation).

Recently, I had lost my passion for all training. I had been searching for a pursuit that could excite me, which is when I found Xen-Do Martial Arts. Xen-Do has reignited my passion for Martial Arts and given me a reason to rebuild myself in the gym, into the biggest, strongest and fittest version of myself. I'm happy to be sharing this new chapter in my story with Team Xen-Do!

My greatest achievement: Having my beautiful daughter, with a remarkable woman who is my wife.
