Instructor Sensei Karla Aranas biography image

Sensei Karla Aranas

1st Dan

Sensei Karla moved to London from the Philippines 11 years ago. She has been an avid martial arts enthusiast for most of her life but never had the chance to participate herself. Her interest was first peaked by the films of Bruce Lee.

Two years ago, she decided to throw caution to the wind and try her hand at Muay Thai and kickboxing and it was from here that her passion for the sport really sparked to life. It was obvious she was a natural from her first class at Xen-Do and she has never looked back. She is now progressing rapidly through the Xen-Do curriculum, putting even those more senior than her to shame. Even after the shortest interaction with her, it is easy to see that she eats, sleeps and breathes martial arts. It was no surprise then, when asked for a quote about her journey in martial arts, she simply recited her hero’s immortal words:

You must be shapeless, formless, like water. When you pour water in a cup, it becomes the cup. When you pour water in a bottle, it becomes the bottle. When you pour water in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Water can drip and it can crash. Become like water my friend

It was these words that Sensei Karla found the inspiration she needed to establish herself in the world of kickboxing. And it is her ever-growing passion that allows her to improve each day. Watch out kickboxing world, a fire has been lit inside Sensei Karla and even we aren’t sure what dizzying heights she might reach.
