Sensei Ryan Coleman

SENSEI

Sensei Ryan may be the youngest member of the team, but he is not to be underestimated. He found Xen-Do shortly after finishing his GCSEs looking to improve his self confidence and well being, needless to say he was hooked after his first class.

He started as a student at Niedo being taught by Sensei Paul and Sensei Joe, he quickly progressed and gained confidence in his martial arts ability and the curriculum. Since joining us at the beginning of 2021 Sensei Ryan has excelled in the sport. He has competed in the 2022 WKO British Open Ringsports Championships and brought back gold in their light continuous division. Also, Ryan competed in the 2023 WUMA English Open Champions bringing back another win. He is currently preparing to compete his first full contact fight in a few, and in training to fly with the team to fight at the Spanish Open in Barcelona.

When asked what advice he would give to new members coming for their first class Sensei Ryan said this,

“When doing your trial class it’s important to keep an open mind. It’s loud, it’s fast, honestly it can be overwhelming, but it is so much fun.”

Fun Fact: Sensei Ryan has been scared of escalators since he was 8 years old.
